About This Sound

CPU Fan is the thin, fast whir of a small computer fan running at full speed, sitting a foot away on the desk. It is bright and slightly gritty, with almost no low end, and the uniform distribution adds a fine blade-chop grain that makes it feel like a real small motor.

The color is 1.3, close to blue, with grey EQ on so the treble stays tolerable and a little bass appears underneath. The distribution is uniform for grain, there is no pulse, and the fade-in is one second, so it spins up almost instantly when you press play.

It is chosen by people who are used to working next to a laptop and find silence odd without it. Server Room is the same idea multiplied into a whole rack at 1.6 with smoother Gaussian texture, and Box Fan is the large, warm domestic fan at 3.3.

Best Used For

Try this: Slide the color to 2 for a larger, slower case fan while keeping the uniform grain.
