Layered Depths is two sounds at once: a heavy brown rumble underneath and a light blue hiss floating above it, with the midrange between them left comparatively empty. The result sounds like standing near a waterfall at the base and hearing spray high above, or a big engine with a small fan beside it.
The primary color is full brown at 4, and a second color of 1.5, between blue and white, is blended in at 40 percent. Because the two colors sit at opposite ends of the spectrum, the blend produces a scooped shape that no single color setting can make. There is no pulse or EQ, and the fade-in is five seconds.
It is chosen by people who want the mass of brown noise with enough treble to mask voices and keyboards. Deep Brown in the ambient category is the bottom layer alone, and Tinnitus Mask is close to the top layer alone with grey EQ added.
