About This Sound

Concentration has a slightly rough, sandy quality, like rain hitting gravel rather than grass. It sits close to white with the harshness taken out by grey EQ, and the uniform random distribution gives it a faintly grainy texture that some people find more engaging than the smoother presets.

The color is 2.8, just below pink, and grey equalization is on so the treble does not bite. The distribution is set to uniform rather than Gaussian, which changes the fine-grained character of the noise without altering its overall color. The fade-in is two seconds and there is no pulse.

This preset suits people who find pink too soft and white too sharp. Beta Boost is brighter at 2.5 without EQ or texture, and Deep Work is warmer at 3.4 with the same grey EQ but a smooth Gaussian texture. It also works as a daytime alternative to Coffee Shop when you want the grain without the busyness.

Best Used For

Try this: Flip the distribution back to Gaussian and compare; the difference is subtle but noticeable over a long session.
