About This Sound

Beta Boost is the brightest of the pink-leaning focus presets, a sound somewhere between a television tuned to static and heavy rain. It has plenty of high-frequency energy and a firm, alert quality that some people find keeps them sharper than the warmer options. On small speakers it can read as a little thin, but on headphones it is crisp and clear.

The color is 2.5, exactly halfway between white and pink, and no grey EQ is applied, so the top end is left as it is. The pulse is off, the distribution is Gaussian and the fade-in is a single second, so it arrives almost immediately when you press play.

It is a common pick for short bursts of high-intensity work rather than all-day listening. Study Hall is brighter still at 1.2, and Concentration is a touch warmer at 2.8 with grey EQ softening the treble. If you start with Beta Boost and find it tiring, moving to Concentration is the usual next step, and from there to Deep Work.

Best Used For

Try this: If it feels harsh after twenty minutes, enable grey EQ rather than lowering the volume; you keep the masking without the edge.
