Pure White is the classic hiss of an untuned analogue television or a radio between stations: equal energy at every frequency, which the ear hears as bright and slightly sharp because there are so many more audible frequencies in the upper octaves than the lower ones.
The color is set to exactly 2, white, with a flat power spectrum. The distribution is Gaussian, grey EQ is off, the pulse is off, and the fade-in is one second. There is no processing of any kind, which makes it the baseline against which every other preset can be compared.
It is used mostly by people who already know they like white noise, and by anyone testing headphones or a room. Grey Noise is the same color with perceptual EQ applied, and Standard Pink is the warmer -3 dB per octave version. The physics page explains the maths.
